Lunch celebrating Seniors Week in the Sutherland Shire (600 tickets available). Tickets for the Luncheon are available by ballot only.
The ballot vouchers are available via the St George and Sutherland Shire Leader on:

  • Tuesday 9 February (see Council's column), and
  • Thursday 11 February (separate advertisement)

or in the General Notices page of this website.

Please follow the instructions provided. Deadline for receiving ballots is Monday 1 March.

Do you know a Sutherland Shire Centenarian?

We honour our centenarian's each year at the luncheon. If you have a friend or relative that turns 100 this year and is a resident of the Sutherland Shire, please call 9710 0992 to  discuss how they can be a part of our 2010 Seniors' Week celebrations.

ACTIVE CALD SENIOR AWARDS 2010

Location: Bexley Community Centre

If you know a senior from a Culturally & Linguistically Diverse (CALD) background who lives in the St George or Sutherland Region and is 60 years or over, and who you feel has been active in making a difference to your life or the life of others then why not nominate this special person for an award. Applications close 4.00pm Friday March 5th 2010. Successful nominees will be invited to an AWARDS LUNCHEON on March 23rd at the Bexley Community Centre. One winner for each local government area will be awarded.

Menai Community Services Inc. is pleased to host this free event featuring entertainment, information and much more to celebrate Seniors Week.

FREE Concerts - The Fabulous Forties show:

The John Pickworth Orchestra will accurately recreate the sounds of the fabulous forties (Glenn Miller, Woody Herman and Duke Ellington synonymous with the
Big Band Era) in a way that will have your toes tapping, your fingers snapping and a bring a smile to your heart.

Joining this elete group of gifted musicians will be the beautiful vocal trio The Belles, who channel the incredible sass and joy of the Andrews Sisters, along with the very talented Chris Atkinson.

Bushcare Bushwalk

Time: 9.30 am – 12.30 pm
Location: Starts at picnic shelter in Gunnamatta Park, Cronulla

There are five Bushcare Groups helping to look after the foreshore of the Cronulla Peninsula. This is an opportunity to see the great work the volunteers are doing and to learn more about native plants in the Cronulla area. A light lunch will be provided after the
walk. Wear a hat and sturdy walking shoes and bring drinking water. Numbers are limited so booking is essential.

Art Exhibition

Time: 10am - 2.30pm

Engadine Community Services are holding an art exibition to encourage, support and showcase local seniors talents. Engadine Community Services seeks submissions for the exhibition, which may consist of paintings, sculptures, pottery, ceramics or any other art forms. Amateurs aand those currently learning new artistic skills are encouarged to exhibit their works. Tea, Coffee, and a simple lunch is provided for submitting artists.

Healthy Ageing Walk

Time: 8.30am - 11am
Walk Begins: Monro Park Corner of Cronulla St & Laycock Ave, Cronulla  
Walk Ends: Cronulla Central 38 - 60 Croydon Street, Cronulla

The walk celebrates active ageing with a walk around the Cronulla peninsular. Two walking routes have been designed a 4.5km and 2.5km route.
All participants receive a map, water and barley sugar.
Event ends at Cronulla Central with a cool down session and the Know Your Options Information Session follows the walk.
