Training for Parents
Every child is unique... even as a baby and as they develop every child has different needs. Addressing this can be a challenge for any parent. That's why Sutherland Shire Council's Registered Training Organisation (RTO) provides a variety of educational workshops to address parenting needs.
In 2010 Sutherland Shire Council RTO will be offering the following training tailored to parents:
Positive Parenting Program - Triple P
The Triple P Parenting Program is a series of three seminars that provide practical answers to everyday parenting concerns. It aims to help you address the following areas in relation to your children ages 3-8 years:
- Promote development and communication skills with your child/ren
- Manage behaviour and emotions with your child/ren
- Build a good relationship with your child/ren
- Take care of yourself
This series will be held 3 times through 2010.

South East Sydney Parenting Coordination Project Training
Sutherland Shire Council is running a series of workshops for parents with children from birth to school age, covering a variety of topics such as toilet training, settling techniques, nutrition, language development etc. This is supported by South East Sydney Parenting Co-Ordination Project and Families First.

Understanding Your Infant
Understanding Your Infant is a series of three sessions by Sutherland Shire Council in partnership with Step By Step Progressive Parenting that aims to support parents in understanding their infant. Out step-by-step informal sessions aim to make the transition into parenthood smooth, enjoyable and fun. It is also a fantastic way to meet new mums and dads. Grandparents are also welcome. All facilitators are Karitane and Tresillian trained, all have their Certificate IV in Workplace training and Assessment... and all believe that their greatest achievement is... being a mum!
