About Sutherland Shire Certification Services

Sutherland Shire Certification Services (SSCS) is a business enterprise of Sutherland Shire Council.

SSCS has traditionally only provided its services (listed below) to its clients within the Sutherland Shire. However, following the recent accreditation of 3 staff, those services are now available in adjoining and nearby local government areas.

Geoff French, Danny Ford and Craig Tibbey have recently been accredited as private building certifiers by the NSW Building Professionals Board. Geoff, Danny and Craig are now able to issue complying development and construction certificates as well as acting as principal certifying authority (PCA) outside the Shire in the St George area as well as Canterbury, Bankstown, Liverpool and Wollongong local government areas.

SSCS will continue to provide its customary high level of service and responsiveness that its clients have enjoyed since its introduction in 1999.

However, there will be some changes including a name change to reflect the expanded operations and implementation of a new website.

The business will be named Southern Sydney Building Certifiers (SSBC). The name better reflects the services that are provided and the area in which the services will be available.

The new website will be fresher, more modern and will still contain the updates, information and forms that our clients regularly use.

Most of all the same friendly, efficient and informative service will still be there.

The services we provide both within the Sutherland Shire and now in adjoining and nearby local government areas includes:

• Construction certificate application assessment
• Complying development certificate application assessment
• Principal Certifying Authority (PCA) inspection service
• Compliance and occupation certificate application assessment
• Pre-development application advisory service
• Energy assessments, including BASIX and ABSA Certificates, for houses, villas, townhouses and flats. We also prepare Section J Energy assessments for other types of development
• Building Code of Australia inspection and reporting
